Annual Pope County Hospice Ride

Saturday was the annual Pope County Hospice Ride, which raises money for Glacial Ridge Hospice, in my hometown of Glenwood, Minnesota.  It was my fifth year participating (every year since I met Dana) and we had another great ride.  120 miles through the gorgeous roads of Pope County and another 25 for the night ride around Lake Minnewaska.  Looking forward to riding many more years to come!

Stare Down

We spent last weekend at the farm in Glenwood for my father-in-law's 70th birthday!  I found some time to wander the farm and found the cows to be a fun shoot.  They were intrigued by me but took off running the second Goldy got near the fence.  Big mistake bringing her along - guess I didn't think that one through.  Found myself wishing I had grabbed by 70-300mm lens to get some closer shots.  Next time... Pretty sure they'll still be there.

Reward for trespassing

Pulled this one out of the archives as I haven't had the motivation to go shoot in the snow and cold.  But I'm hoping later this week to throw on my boots, gloves, hat, scarf, etc, etc and go try out my new 70-300mm lens!  So you should see some new material soon!

Grove Lake Church

there are a lot of interesting little places out near my in-laws.  this one is a memorial for the grove lake church.  it sits on the site where the original church burnt down (wish i could remember the year).  couldn't decide on the color or black & white so i decided to post both!

Trespassing

I've been dying to photograph this abandoned farmstead for almost a year!  I drive by it every single time I go out to my in-laws and wish I could sneak on and get a few shots.  Well, over Thanksgiving I couldn't resist any longer.  So I just did it - even though I totally knew I was trespassing.  There are a few other buildings I wish I was brave enough to capture but this one is near the edge of the highway.  So I ran up to it, took some shots and then ran back to my truck.  Why am I so chicken?

Fascinated by Cementeries

something about old headstones fascinate me - to think of what their life was like 100+ years ago, what brought them to glenwood, and how they died.

Looks like fall...

Taken in my hometown of Glenwood, Minnesota -- an old warehouse building with the moon rising in the background.  Not sure why, but this one really feels like fall to me.
